On The Turning Away: New Lyrics for an Age of Apostasy

I was out on my bike one day, listening to some Floyd, and when this song came on I had to get home as soon as possible. There was another song here. These are my lyrics (if you don't know the tune, I've posted it above. Give it a listen, then read the my lyrics with the song. I think the tune is quite appropriate, as the two lyrics are in some ways rather similar, but in some ways totally different:

On the Turning Away

From the pain foretrodden

And the words that he said

Which you won’t understand

Don’t accept that what happened to him

Was just a case of someone “suffering”

Or you may find yourself joining in

The Turning Away

Is it a sin that somehow

Light was changing to shadow

Darkness casting its shroud

Over all earth had known

Unaware how the hordes had grown

Driven downward by hearts of stone

He approached the Gates all alone

Then he burst them open

On the wings of the night

As the daytime was rousing

Where the speechless united a silent accord

No words for a rolled away stone

Mesmerized as new light was sown

A Wind stirring had blown

Baring wings of a new day

No more Turning Away

Though you feel weak and weary

No more turning away

Yes the night is far gone

For the world we all must share

It’s not enough just to stand and stare

The dead raised King so stop the fear
